Key Factors That Affect Credentialing Approval Time:

• Type of Insurance Carrier:

Some commercial and government payers, like Medicare or Medicaid, have more rigorous verification procedures than others. Larger carriers often have fixed committee review cycles that can extend processing times.

• Type of Application:

Initial applications generally take longer than recredentialing or updates. Applications involving CLIA registrations, PECOS, or multiple state licenses can also add time.

• Provider Type and Status:

New graduates (residents/fellows)

Providers relocating to a new geographic area

Existing providers changing employers or EINs

These transitions often require additional verification steps and documentation.
